Intra-thyroid parathyroid adenoma: a difficult task to find

We report a case of 66-year-old female, who presented with features hypercalcemia and developed acute kidney injury (AKI). Parathyroid hormone level was raised up to 740 pg/ml. Ultrasound sestamibi scan suggested presence right sided parathyroid adenoma. A decision parathyroidectomy taken. The sample that sent for frozen section showed only thyroid tissue. No macroscopically visible or palpable nodule suspected be adenoma could found. So, hemithyroidectomy taken done accordingly. On routine histopathology solid gray white found within tissue it confirmed microscopically as BIRDEM Med J 2023; 13(2): 116-118
